Do they make a press without heated plates. If not, are the plates always heated or can they be switched off?

Using the dropdown options you can choose with or without a controller. Without a controller, the heat will never be on. If you do choose to use a controller for heating, the controller can be unplugged and the plates can be used at room temperature.
