When the pump starts to leak butane out of the main body then it would be time to rebuild. You may notice significantly less butane in your total recovery amount after each run. If you have a butane detector you can use it around the case to see if a lot of solvent is escaping. A rebuild must be done at 1000 hours of run time max but should be done much sooner.
